Alistair
There were once two angelic brothers who had clearly endured something horrific. The exact details of what they had been through was unclear, but there was no denying its impact. The brothers were extremely close, and were rarely found apart. They often talked about what they were going to be when they got older, and the idea that each might be assigned different jobs didn't seem to be on their radar. Yet, that was exactly what happened. One brother was assigned to the malakims while the other was given the title of arch angel. This did not diminish their bond, but it was clear this was not how they wished for things to play out---especially the arch angel who proved to be a very controlling and possessive being. There were those that believed this was the result of his trauma, and many commended the malakim's patience as they could have endure the arch angel's nature as the malakim seemed to.
One day the malakim met and fell in love with a female demon. The arch angel believed that this affair would be short lived--especially when his brother discovered that his lover was married, but that didn't come to pass instead the malakim developed feelings for the husband and the three of them entered into menage a trois. Worse for the arch angel was that no matter how he tried he couldn't convince the malakim from residing within Hell with his two lovers. The three lived happily together and their happiness only grew when the female demon announced that she was pregnant. It wasn't until Alistair--as they came to name him--was born that it was reveal that it was the malakim's seed which had quicken inside the female demon's belly. None of them cared about this detail, and each loved Alistair with every fiber of their being. Alistair was the pride and joy of not only his three parents but everyone within the estate.
Their happy existence came to an horrific end when Alistair was three years old. Another demon wishing to expand his own territory decided to attack Alistair's home. Normally his demonic father could have defended his home from this demon's attempts, but this demon had grown in power since they last they had encounter and he used this power to defeat and kill Alistair's demonic father. His mother understanding perfectly well that Alistair's life was now in grave danger tried to flee with him, but the attacker noticed her attempt and moved to put an end to Alistair before he had a chance to grow up and take back what had been stolen. The attacker's blow never reached its mark as the malakim leapt between his son and his attacker. It was clear that the malakim was not going to survive this encounter, and Alistair's mother fell to the ground overcome with grief as she watched both her lovers slaughtered before her very eyes.
It was at this moment that the malakim's brother appeared. He had been the one to give the attacker the power he needed to defeat Alistair's demonic father. He had wanted those who had taken his brother away from him to be killed in the hostile take over and his brother to return to Heaven where he belonged, but because of the female demon's manipulations that was not going to come to pass. The arch angel killed the female demon for the role she played in his brother demise and moved to put an end to Alistair as well but his brother's voice stilled his hands. The malakim begged his brother to not only spare Alistair's life, but protect him as well. Before the arch angel could reply to his brother's request the general of the demon lord's army swept in, picking up Alistair and vowing to do as the malakim asked. The malakim passed away shortly after and the arch angel fled back to Heaven.
True to his word the general looked after Alistair as if he was his own. He took on the responsibility of lord until Alistair came of age. The general as well as the others within the estate did their best to provide Alistair with the type of childhood his parents would have if they were still alive. There were, however, those who didn't believe that Alistair should inherit his demonic father's land. They claimed that since he wasn't the demon lord's biological son that he shouldn't be allowed to inherit his lands, and the general reminded them that it was the demon lord himself that had named Alistair his heir and no amount of bitching and moaning was going to change this fact. Despite this debate, Alistair was an extremely happy and well adjusted child, but that all changed when his uncle came back into his life. They met in secret, and at first the arch angel was extremely kind to Alistair--providing him with him with many gifts but over time his darker tendencies began to reveal itself until his treatment of Alistair could be described as nothing less than abusive.
The arch angel twisted Alistair, convincing him that he was nothing more than a monster. Those within the estate watched in horror as their sweet child was turned into something unrecognizable. Things within the estate became extremely disquieted due to Alistair's volatile nature. There were those who ended up believing he was indeed a monster incapable of love, and for many--including those who he took to his bed this proved to be true. However, there were three who managed to gain his genuine affection. One was the slave of his uncle--a woman who the already controlling arch angel was even more possessive over. Another was a demon lord who was the lover of both Alistair and his uncle's slave. The final was a female half-breed born from a human mother and a low leveled demonic father. It was this last one that Alistair loved the most. She was the one whom he decided to marry, but she believed that it was his uncle slave who he loved the most.
More than that she believed that she was causing Alistair harm, and to keep herself from continuing to hurt him she decided to leave. This decision devastated Alistair and it caused him to spiral more. He ended up killing his uncle's slave, and this only caused him to spiral even more. He decided to travel the land, killing everyone he came upon and while many tried to stop him none possessed the power to do so. That was until he met him--a low-leveled demon child with a high level demon powers. This child did not shy away from Alistair like all the others who stood in Alistair's wake. He was not afraid of death. It might even be said he embraced it. Alistair saw a kindred spirit, and it was because of this that he decided to take this child in and declare him his heir. Alistair told the child that he would train him, teach him everything he needed to secede him and when his education was complete he would kill Alistair and take his place. This is exactly what happened.

Many were confused by Alistair decision. They believed that his end would come at the hand of an enemy on the field of battle not by someone he personally trained for the task. The general, however, very much aware of his uncle's influence understood why Alistair made the choice he did. Alistair was trying to free himself from his uncle's sway. He knew like the general did that the arch angel was the root of Alistair downward spiral. Over the years the general tried to lessen the impact the arch angel had on Alistair's mental state, but was horrified to discover just how much control the arch angel gained over his nephew. He had failed to keep his vow to the malakim, and knew that death would not free him from the arch angel torment. The general knew the arch angel would find each and every incarnation of Alistair and twist them as he did Alistair. He knew that the damage that the arch angel caused Alistair was not just a mental one, but a spiritual one. More than that he believed that if Alistair soul had time to heal and he was allowed to grow outside his uncle's control that he would become strong enough to to fail prey to his uncle or anyone's vile nature. The only way to keep his uncle from continuing his torment of Alistair was to ensure that he didn't find him.
The answer came in a form of spell, but this was not a spell he could cast himself. He asked Alistair's wife to be help him and after some effort on his part he convinced her. The spell would make everyone aside from Alistair's wife believe that the general was Alistair. This would require the general to die as to avoid Alistair being reborn while the general lived, but that was a small price to pay to give his charge a chance to hell. The spell had it intended effect--life after life the arch angel pursued the general believing he was Alistair.

Senan
The arch angel was not the only one who sought Alistair out, but such detail mattered not as Alistair's soul was free from their corrupting influence. It is unclear how many times he was reborn before he found himself in the incarnation that was completely healed from the damage that the arch angel had inflicted upon his soul. The identity of his current incarnation is Senan Donovan. The Donovan family are renowned for being supernatural investigators--especially the men. His father was considered the exemplary idea of what a member of the clan should be. Many within his own family--including his father--believed that marriage between Senan's father and a member of a higher member of the clan or even another clan should be arranged as this would only increase the family's own standing within the clan. A number of suitable wives were presented to Senan's father, but much to their annoyance he rejected them all--even when pressured to accept on. He wanted to marry for love, and if it wasn't for his mother's gentle influence over his father he might not ever had the opportunity.
The woman whom Senan's father would eventually marry was not a member of the supernatural investigators families. She didn't even know the existence of supernatural creatures until a demon decided to torment and kill her entire family--a fate she would have shared if Senan's father hadn't came to her rescue at the last moment, but the ordeal had left her seriously injured. Senan's father took her back to his family estate to heal, and the two of them fell madly in love. She was the woman that Senan's father wished to marry. Many within the family--including Senan's grandfather--was against the arrangement. They could accept him choosing his own wife as long as she came from one of the clans. They claimed that because she was an outsider that she would never adjust to their ways. Once again it was Senan's grandmother who persuaded her husband to accept who their son had chosen by reminding him that she for all intent and purpose was consider an outsider and she had adjusted to the family just fine. The wedding occurred not long after and not after that the new bride found herself pregnant.
The pregnancy was an extremely difficult one, and many within the family believing that neither her nor the child was going to survive the birthing process tried to encourage her to abort the child. She refused, believing her sole purpose on this world was to give birth to the child growing within her and she was determined to do so even if it cost her life. That was exactly what it cost her. She would die in what those who had been within the birthing chamber would describe as the most horrific birthing they had ever witness, and they knew right away that there wasn't something right about the child she had brought into the world. They couldn't exactly explain what was off about the child. He just unnerved them, and they decided that the only logical explanation was that he was a monster and that they must do as duty demanded and rid the world of said monster. However, before they could act the baby's father swiped his son away from those who intended him home, and told them that his child was not a monster and he will deal with anyone who regarded him as such. They understood this was no ideal threat and were careful not to regard the child who had been named Senan as such anywhere his father could discover it.

Senan's father buried his wife and raised his son. Senan was the center of his father's world. He brought him up learning everything there was about his family including his mother, but Senan felt a distance from them all. For many this as well as the strange abilities he possessed only reconfirmed their belief that he was indeed a monster, but his father didn't agree. He did everything to help Senan understand his strange abilities as well as help him develop them, and with his father's encouragement he followed his father upon the field. Senan had grown to be quite the talented hunter, and there are those that claim he is even better than his father who is a legend within the supernatural community.
